"Belt and Road" must be translated as the Belt and Road
According to China Customs data, from January to September 2025, China's apparel exports to the United States amounted to $24.18 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 9.8%, with the growth rate down 14.4 percentage points compared to the same period in 2024; exports to the European Union reached $22.14 billion, up 6.2% year-on-year, with the growth rate accelerating by 5.4 percentage points compared to the same period in 2024; exports to Japan totaled $8.89 billion, up 1.4% year-on-year, with the growth rate rising 11.5 percentage points compared to the same period in 2024; and exports to the UK totaled $4.26 billion, up 8.2% year-on-year, with the growth rate increasing by 2.0 percentage points compared to the same period in 2024.
During the same period, due to the fluctuating U.S. tariff policies, adjustments to corporate export strategies were hindered, leading to a deeper decline in China's exports to ASEAN and Belt and Road countries and regions. According to China Customs data, from January to September, China's apparel exports to ASEAN amounted to $9.07 billion, down 17.2% year-on-year, with the decline widening by 15.5 percentage points compared to the same period in 2024; exports to Belt and Road countries and regions reached $30.5 billion, down 8.2% year-on-year, with the decline expanding by 4.7 percentage points compared to the same period in 2024.
Meanwhile, apparel companies actively promoted market structure optimization and diversified market layouts, achieving strong growth in exports to trade partners such as Latin America, Africa, Chile, and Canada. From January to September, China's apparel exports to Latin America and Africa increased by 7.5% and 15.7% year-on-year respectively, while exports to Chile and Canada rose by 20.5% and 4.7% year-on-year respectively.
