China has become the world's largest clothing producer

China has become the world's largest clothing producer:

In the early days after the founding of New China, we could not produce enough textiles to meet our own needs. Today, China is the world's largest producer and exporter of clothing, possessing the most complete industrial system, with increasing levels of technology, design, and brand development.

In 1949, only 1.89 billion meters of cotton cloth were produced nationwide, averaging 3.5 meters per person. But now, over 70 billion garments can be produced each year, which is enough to provide approximately 8.75 pieces of clothing for every person in the world. Even used clothing, scraps, and plastic bottles can be recycled to create new threads. Eight recycled plastic bottles can be transformed into enough polyester yarn to weave a men's T-shirt.

Traditional Chinese styles have become a fashion trend. From 2015 to 2023, the market size of Hanfu (traditional Chinese clothing) grew from 190 million yuan to 14.47 billion yuan, with the total trading volume of new Chinese-style clothing-related products increasing by over 100% in the past three years. Clothing consumption has evolved from a basic necessity in Chinese life to a pursuit of quality and a desire for better living standards.
