Traditional clothing trend in China

In China, it’s common to see tourists dressed in traditional attire such as hanfu, qipao, and mamian skirts at various scenic spots, with travel photography and makeup stores enjoying brisk business. On the streets, young men and women dressed in ‘new Chinese-style’ fashion are also frequently spotted. Meanwhile, e-commerce platforms are witnessing an explosive growth in both transaction volumes and active sellers of traditional clothing. In recent years, attire featuring Chinese elements and traditional characteristics has become a new highlight in the consumer market. The latest data shows that in 2023, Chinese national trend economy reached a market size of 2.05 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.44%. The hanfu market in China continues to expand, reaching 14.47 billion yuan in 2023 and is expected to reach 24.18 billion yuan by 2027.
